How to create a Workspace template

Updated over 5 months ago

Overview

Workspace templates help save team members time by giving them a framework to build off of. For example, you can configure a workspace template for your Sales Room or Onboarding Portal.

We recommend that every new Workspace starts from a template or existing space. In the article below, you'll learn how to create and access Workspace templates for your org.

Please note, every user in Dock can create a template. If you are not an admin user, your templates will be private (only visible to you).

Creating a Workspace Template

Step 1: On your homepage, look at the left navigation bar. Click on the Templates section below "Library".

Here you'll find any template that's already in your system.

Step 2: Click New template on the top right.

Step 3: Select the type of template: workspace, page, or section. For this purpose, let's select Workspace.

Step 4: Select the foundation for your template.

There are three options: create from a company template (one that's already built), duplicate a workspace, or start from scratch.

Step 5: Make a selection and then click Duplicate template or Create template.

Step 6: Give your template a name, and then select a "Shared with" setting.

  • Private: only visible to you, the template creator.

  • Everyone: all users in your Dock environment.

Dock tip: Use dynamic variables to customize your templates and help your team save time when creating Workspaces.

Who can see my templates?

Users with standard permissions can create templates for themselves, but the privacy setting will default to Private. Any private templates are currently only visible to the template creator and even admins do not have visibility.

Admins or "Super" admins of Dock can create templates for everyone.
