Learning with AI Tutors

How to run a tutor session and review progress as a rep

Overview

AI Tutors help you learn through a live conversation. A tutor explains concepts, answers your questions, and checks your understanding, all based on learning materials your team has provided. After each session, Dock AI shows you which learning objectives you’ve demonstrated and where you need more practice. This article walks you through starting a tutor session and reviewing your results.

Starting a Tutor Session

Step 1: Click Practice under Learning in the left nav.

Step 2: Click Start practice in the top right, then select Start tutor.

Step 3: Under Select a tutor, click the tutor you want to learn with.

Step 4: Review the Learning Objectives on the right. These are the topics the tutor will cover and what you’ll be evaluated on.

Step 5: Click Start video call.

Note: you’ll only see tutors your admin has published. Your team may also embed tutors directly in Playbooks and Courses, so you can learn right alongside the content.

During the Session

Step 1: If your browser asks for microphone access, select your microphone and click Allow while visiting the site or Allow this time.

Step 2: Wait for the tutor to join. They’ll typically start by asking how you’d like to begin, for example with a quick explanation or by testing what you already know.

Step 3: Talk it through. Answer the tutor’s questions in your own words, and ask questions whenever something isn’t clear.

Step 4: When you’re done, click End session.

Note: the tutor teaches only from the learning materials your admin has added, so its answers will reflect your company’s content and messaging.

💡 Explain answers in your own words rather than repeating the tutor. Dock AI evaluates whether you can demonstrate each objective yourself, so if the tutor has to supply the answer, that objective will be marked as needing practice.

Reviewing Your Results

After you end the session, Dock AI evaluates the conversation and takes you to your results.

Summary

This section shows how many objectives you demonstrated (for example, 1 of 3 objectives demonstrated), a short summary of how the session went, and a count of objectives in each status.

Learning Objectives

Each objective is marked with one of three statuses, along with an explanation from Dock AI:

Status

What it means

Demonstrated

You showed a solid understanding of this objective on your own.

Needs practice

The objective came up, but your understanding wasn’t complete or the tutor had to fill in gaps.

Not covered

The objective didn’t come up during the session, so your understanding couldn’t be checked.

Recording and Transcript

On the right side of the page, you can replay the session and read through the conversation.

  • Recording: click play to listen back. Use the speed dropdown (for example, 1x) to speed up playback, or click the download arrow to save the recording.

  • Transcript: click a message to skip to that part of the audio, or use Search transcript to find a specific moment. Use the icons at the top of the transcript to copy or download it.

💡 Have objectives marked Needs practice or Not covered? Start another session and ask the tutor to focus on those topics.

Viewing Past Sessions

Every tutor session you complete is saved on the Practice page under My sessions, alongside your roleplays. Click any session to reopen its summary, learning objectives, recording, and transcript.

Note: the Team sessions tab is only visible to managers, team leads, and admins.
