Practicing with AI Roleplays

How to run a roleplay call and review feedback as a rep

Overview

AI Roleplays let you practice real sales conversations with an AI buyer before you get on a live call. After each call, Dock AI grades you against a scorecard and gives you specific coaching on what to improve. This article walks you through starting a roleplay, what happens during the call, and how to review your results.

Starting a Roleplay

Step 1: Click Practice under Learning in the left nav.

Step 2: Click Start practice in the top right, then select Start roleplay.

Step 3: Under Select a scenario, click the scenario you want to practice.

Use the Call Type all dropdown to filter the list by call type.

Each scenario card shows the call format (for example, Video), the call type, and the buyer you’ll be speaking with.

Step 4: Review the scenario details on the right before you start.

💡 Dock tip: Take a minute to read YOUR GOAL and CALL CONTEXT before you start. Plan your opener and a few discovery questions, just like you would before a real call.

Step 5: Click Start video call.

Note: you’ll only see scenarios your admin has published. If you don’t see the scenario you need, reach out to your admin.

During the Call

Step 1: If your browser asks for microphone access, select your microphone and click Allow while visiting the site or Allow this time.

Step 2: Wait for the buyer to join. They’ll open the conversation, so listen to their first message and respond naturally.

Step 3: Run the call. The Scenario Win Condition stays on screen below the video tiles as a reminder of your goal, and a timer on your tile shows how long you’ve been on the call.

Step 4: When you’re done, click End session in the top right.

Note: depending on how your admin has set up Practice, you may also see a live Transcript of the conversation below the video tiles.

Reviewing Your Results

After you end the call, Dock AI evaluates the conversation and takes you to your results. Your feedback is split across two tabs: Scorecard and AI Coaching.

Scorecard

The Scorecard tab shows your overall score out of 100 and how many criteria you met (for example, 2 of 4 criteria met). Below that, you’ll see four call metrics:

Metric

What it measures

Talk / Listen Ratio

How much of the call you spent talking versus listening

Filler Words

How often you used filler words, per minute

Talk Speed

How fast you spoke, in words per minute

Longest Monologue

The longest stretch you spoke without the buyer responding

Your results will also be grouped by section (for example, Opener, Discovery, and Closing). Each criterion shows a green check if you met it or a red X if you didn’t.

Click a criterion to see more detail.

AI Coaching

The AI Coaching tab gives you Recommendations from Dock AI, starting with a short summary of how the call went, what to improve, and what went well.

Recording and Transcript

You can replay the call and read through the conversation.

  • Recording: click play to listen back. Use the speed dropdown (for example, 1x) to speed up playback, or click the download arrow to save the recording.

  • Transcript: click a message to skip to that part of the audio, or use Search transcript to find a specific moment. Use the icons at the top of the transcript to copy or download it.

💡 Dock tip: Pair your AI Coaching with the recording. Jump to the timestamps called out under What to improve and listen to how the moment actually played out. Then click Start new call to run the scenario again and try a different approach.

Viewing Past Sessions

Every roleplay you complete is saved on the Practice page under My sessions. Each session shows the Session name, Type, Result, Duration, and Date.

  • Use the Scenario all and Call Type all dropdowns to filter your sessions.

  • Click any session to reopen its scorecard, coaching, recording, and transcript.

Note: the Team sessions tab is only visible to managers, team leads, and admins.

💡 Dock tip: Run the same scenario a few times and compare your results in My sessions. It’s the easiest way to see whether your coaching is turning into a higher score.
