Overview
AI Tutors are part of Dock's Practice product, to help reps learn through a conversation. A tutor explains concepts, answers questions, and checks understanding, all based on the learning materials you provide. This article walks admins through creating, previewing, and publishing a tutor.
Creating a Tutor
Step 1: Click Practice under Learning in the left nav.
Step 2: Click Settings in the top right.
Step 3: Select Tutors in the left panel, then click [Create tutor].
Step 4: Work through the three setup steps below. You can jump between steps at any time using the Setup panel on the left.
Note: changes save automatically. Click Save and close to come back later.
Overview: set up the tutor
Name the tutor, choose what it teaches from, and how it sounds.
Tutor name: what reps will see when choosing a tutor
Additional instructions (optional): how the tutor should teach, pace, and give feedback. For example: "Ask one question at a time. If the rep gets it wrong, explain why and point to the source."
Avatar and voice: Video vs. audio call, and how the tutor looks and sounds.
Important note: video calls rely on live video processing, so only so many video sessions can run at the same time. If that capacity is reached, the tutor automatically switches to an audio-only call so your rep can keep practicing without interruption.
š” Planning a large training or rollout where many reps will run video tutors at once? Reach out to your Dock CSM or Support ahead of time so we can make sure thereās enough capacity for your team.
Max call duration
Note: the tutor answers and quizzes from this content only, so make sure your learning materials cover everything you want reps to learn.
Click Continue to learning objectives.
Learning objectives: add learning objectives
List what a rep should be able to do after a session. The tutor checks progress against each one. Click Add objective to add more.
š” Dock Tip: Keep each objective focused on one idea, like "Understand the personas who Dock is built for." Clear, specific objectives make it easier for the tutor to guide the conversation and check understanding.
Click Continue to preview.
Preview: preview the tutor
Click Start tutor to run a practice session the way a rep would. This is a great way to check that the tutor is pulling from the right materials and teaching the way you want.
Note: preview sessions aren't saved or scored.
When you're happy with it, click Publish tutor.
Where Reps Can Access Tutors
The Practice page: reps can work with a tutor directly by clicking Start practice.
Playbooks and Courses: tutors can be embedded in playbooks and courses, so reps can learn right alongside the content.
š” Dock Tip: Pair a tutor with a roleplay. For example, have reps learn your product with a tutor, then practice pitching it to an AI buyer in a roleplay.
