How to configure relative start and due dates in Dock

Updated over a year ago

Overview

As you create tasks (also referred to as a checklist) in a workspace, you can set relative start and due dates! These can be relative to other tasks in the workspace, relative to phases in the timeline, or to the key dates you set for the workspace as a whole.

By leveraging these, you can help set the pace of a project without needing to manually click in and assign a date to each to-do.

Setting Key Dates on the Workspace Level

On the internal tab of a workspace, you will find a Key dates section on the lefthand side. Here you can set a start date and target end date for the project associated with the space (and once you're done, an actual end date).

Assigning a Relative Start and Due Date to a Task

Step 1: On checklist to-do item, click on the details to pull up the sidebar.

Step 2: In the settings panel, click start or due date to pull up the calendar.

Step 3: From the calendar, select Use relative start date:

Step 4: Configure the settings by using the drop-downs!

Setting the Relative Date

Step 1: Add in the amount of days.

Step 2: Select business days or calendar days from the dropdown.

Step 3: Select before, on or after.

Step 4: Select this workspace or search for the relative task/timeline phase.

If you select this workspace, it will reference the key dates found in the internal tab of the workspace (check out the screenshot in the overview above).

Step 5: Select start date or due date.

Remember, this is what you're setting your task to be relative to!

Once you've set the date, you'll see a breakdown of the logic. This logic is not shown on the Shared view! The share view will only show the actual date.
