Turning on Dock AI for Slack

Let your team chat with Dock AI directly in Slack

Overview

Admins can turn on Dock AI for Slack so their team can mention @Dock in Slack to ask questions, find content, create workspaces, and more. Dock AI replies in a thread. Answers are scoped to the Dock permissions of the person asking, so no one sees anything they couldn't already access in Dock.

Enabling this feature requires admin permissions, and the Slack integration must already be connected. If you haven't set it up yet, see Integrating Dock and Slack.

How to Turn On Dock AI for Slack

Step 1: Under your admin settings panel > go to Integrations and select Slack.

Step 2: Toggle to the AI tab.

Step 3: Toggle on Turn on Dock AI for Slack.

After that, anyone in your organization can mention @Dock in any channel the Dock app has been invited to.

💡 Dock Tip: Set Up Channels for Dock AI

Since Dock AI only works in channels, we recommend one or both of the following:

  • A dedicated group channel: Create a shared channel for your team, like #dock-ai, and invite the Dock app with /invite @Dock. This gives everyone one place to ask questions and keeps AI threads out of your working channels.

  • Private channels for reps: Reps can create a private channel just for themselves and invite the Dock app. Only they can see their questions and answers.

💡 Let your team know once it's on, and remind them that everyone in a channel can see the questions asked there.
