Chatting with Dock AI in Slack

Ask Dock AI questions without leaving Slack

Overview

You can mention @Dock in Slack to chat with Dock AI, the same way you would in the Dock app or through MCP. Ask questions, find content, create workspaces, and more, and Dock AI replies in a thread. Answers are scoped to your Dock permissions, so you'll only see what you already have access to in Dock.

Note: An admin has to turn this on first. See Turning on Dock AI for Slack.

Where to Chat with Dock AI

Dock AI works in Slack channels that the Dock app has been invited to. It isn't available in DMs, so we recommend setting up one of the following:

  • A dedicated group channel: A shared channel for your team, like #dock-ai. Everyone has one place to ask questions, and AI threads stay out of your working channels.

  • A private channel just for you: Create a private channel with only yourself in it and invite the Dock app. Only you can see your questions and answers.

Keep in mind, anyone in a channel can see the questions asked there and Dock AI's answer.

How to Chat with Dock AI in Slack

Step 1: Go to a channel the Dock app has been added to. If it hasn't been added yet, send a message of @Dock in the channel and approve the request to add.

Step 2: Type @Dock followed by your question or request. For example:

  • @Dock what's the latest case study we have for healthcare customers?

  • @Dock create a workspace for Acme Corp using our onboarding template

Step 3: Send the message. Dock AI will reply in a thread, and you can keep the conversation going there.

Dock AI only responds when it's mentioned, so be sure to start every request with @Dock.

💡 Dock AI in Slack works the same as Dock AI in the app, so the same prompting tips apply. Be specific about what you need and include names, like the account or template, wherever you can.
