How to create workflows in Hubspot based on activity in Dock

Updated over a week ago

Introduction

You can create Hubspot workflows based on Dock activity filters.

There are a few examples for when this might be helpful:

  • To trigger emails and/or slack notifications based on Dock activity.

  • Change stages in Hubspot based on onboarding or mutual action plan tasks.

  • Update Hubspot fields based on Dock activity.

Before continuing, we recommend that you double check that the Hubspot integration is enabled.

In order for this to work successfully, workspaces will also need to be connected to the deal or account. For a refresh on how to do this, click here.

Configuration Steps

Step 1: Go to Workflow page in Hubspot.

Step 2: Create a Workflow.

Step 3: Create a Contact based Workflow.

Dock only supports Contact based workflows since the activities are tied to the contact record.

Step 4: Choose trigger When filter criteria is met.

Step 5: Search for "Dock" or scroll down to the Integration section and select Dock.

Step 6: When you select Dock, you'll see five different options for your filter.

You have the option to select from Analytics events (Views, Clicks, Downloads, or Interactions), or MAP activity (movement related to project plans in the workspace). Below are our recommendations for how you could utilize these:

Analytics events recommendations:

  • Clicks/Interactions: filter by date or link URL.

  • Downloads: filter by date and/or file name.

  • Views: filter by date.

MAP activity recommendations:

  • Filter by activity text - e.g. "completed task 'Sign up for free account'" or "completed task 'Intro call'".

Once you setup your filters, you can use Hubspot's Workflows to send emails, slack notifications, update fields, change stages and more!
