Using Dock with ChatGPT & Codex via MCP

How to use Dock MCP with ChatGPT

Dock MCP is in beta. Some features may behave unexpectedly — contact support if you run into issues.

Connect Dock to ChatGPT so you can search workspaces, find assets, manage deal rooms, and take action in Dock without leaving ChatGPT.

Required plan: ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, or Edu

What you can do

  • Find deal rooms and workspaces by account, rep, stage, or template

  • Search the Dock content library by topic, format, or keyword

  • Pull everything Dock has on a specific account in one query

  • Add or update asset tags in bulk

  • Create new workspaces and apply templates

  • Ask cross-cutting questions across your book of business ("Which deal rooms haven't been updated in 30 days?")

  • Interact with your Dock custom agents

More capabilities are on the way. Tell us what you'd like to do with Dock MCP at [email protected]

Admin setup

Setup has three stages: enable Developer Mode, create the Dock app, then publish it to your workspace. Only admins can complete this.

Step 1: Enable Developer Mode

  1. Log in to ChatGPT as a workspace admin.

  2. Navigate to Workspace Settings → Permissions & Roles → Connected Data.

  3. Toggle Developer Mode / Create custom MCP connectors to ON.

Step 2: Create the Dock app

  1. From Workspace Settings, navigate to Apps → Create.

  2. Enter the following:

    • MCP Server URL: https://api.dock.us/mcp

    • Name: Dock

    • Authentication: OAuth

  3. Click Create and wait for the scan to complete. Complete the OAuth authorization prompt when it appears.

Dock will appear as a draft under Workspace Settings → Apps → Drafts.

Step 3: Publish the app

  1. Go to Workspace Settings → Apps → Drafts.

  2. Click Publish next to the Dock app.

  3. Review the safety warnings and publish

Once published, Dock appears in all users' Apps settings with a custom label.

User authentication

After an admin publishes the Dock app, each user connects with their own Dock account.

  1. Open ChatGPT

  2. Select Apps in the left sidebar

  3. Search for the Dock MCP app

  4. Click Connect

  5. Follow the authentication steps

Once connected, ChatGPT will use Dock automatically for relevant queries in that session.

Asking questions

Use plain language. ChatGPT will call the right Dock tools automatically based on your request.

Example prompts:

  • "Find the deal room for Salesforce."

  • "What assets do we have tagged 'onboarding'?"

  • "Show me all workspaces created this month."

  • "What's in the Stripe workspace?"

  • "Tag the three security one-pagers with 'enterprise'."

  • "Which deal rooms haven't been updated in the last 30 days?"

  • "Find a playbook template for new customer onboarding."

For actions that change data in Dock (creating workspaces, adding tags), ChatGPT will ask for confirmation before executing.

Permissions

The connector respects your existing Dock permissions. If you don't have access to a workspace or asset in Dock, ChatGPT won't be able to retrieve it through the connector either.

FAQ

Why can't I see the Dock app in my workspace? The app must be published by an admin before it appears for users. Check with your ChatGPT workspace admin that the Dock app has been published under Workspace Settings → Apps.

I'm on ChatGPT Plus or Pro — can I use this? Only in read-only mode. Full write/modify MCP support (creating workspaces, tagging assets) requires a Business, Enterprise, or Edu plan. Contact your IT or operations team about upgrading your workspace.

Is my Dock data sent to OpenAI? Tool results — workspace names, asset titles, account data — pass through OpenAI's infrastructure as part of your conversation. Your Dock credentials are never stored; only an OAuth token scoped to your session. Review OpenAI's enterprise privacy policy for full details.

What Dock plan do I need? MCP is available on all plans.
