Using Dock with Gemini via MCP

How to use Dock MCP with Gemini

Dock MCP is in beta. Some features may behave unexpectedly — contact support if you run into issues.

Connect Dock to Gemini so you can search workspaces, find assets, manage deal rooms, and take action in Dock without leaving Gemini.

What You Can Do

Once the connection is established, end users can leverage Gemini to perform the following actions using natural language:

  • Find workspaces easily: Locate deal rooms and workspaces by account, representative, deal stage, or template.

  • Search the content library: Query the Dock content library by topic, format, or specific keywords.

  • Consolidate account research: Pull everything Dock has on a specific account in a single query.

  • Bulk manage data: Add or update asset tags in bulk across documents.

  • Automate creation: Create new workspaces and instantly apply predefined templates.

  • Ask cross-cutting business questions: Query your entire book of business at once (e.g., "Which deal rooms haven't been updated in 30 days?").

  • Interact with your Dock custom agents

Admin Setup vs. End-User Steps

To ensure security and proper data access, the setup process is divided between platform Administrators (who handle the backend architecture) and End Users (who authenticate their individual accounts).

Part 1: For Workspace Administrators (One-Time Setup)

Administrators must register Dock as an authorized Data Store in the Gemini management environment.

  1. Create the Data Store: Log in to your Google Cloud Console, navigate to Gemini Enterprise > Integration Management, and click ➕ Create data store. Select Custom MCP Server.

  2. Configure Endpoint: Set the Display Name to Dock and paste the endpoint URL: https://api.dock.us/mcp.

  3. Configure Authentication: Select OAuth. Input your organization's OAuth client_id and client_secret provided by your Identity Provider (IdP) or your Dock admin portal to ensure secure data boundaries.

  4. Discover Tools: Click into the new Dock data store, navigate to Actions, and click Reload custom actions. Review the list of discovered tools (e.g., get_workspace, search_documents) and click Enable actions.

Part 2: For End Users (First-Time Sign In)

End users do not need access to Google Cloud. They simply need to authorize Gemini to view their specific Dock permissions.

  1. Initiate a Query: In your standard Gemini chat window, type a prompt related to Dock (e.g., "Check our Dock workspace for the latest onboarding brief").

  2. Authorize via OAuth: Because the administrator configured OAuth, Gemini will present a sign-in card reading "Dock requires authentication".

  3. Log In: Click the prompt, log into your usual Dock account, and grant Gemini permission to access your workspaces.

  4. Run Queries: Once authenticated, Gemini will answer your questions using live data from Dock, enforcing the exact same data permissions you have in the core Dock platform.
