Building Tiered & Volume Price Quotes

How to use the price quote builder for tiered and volume pricing models

Updated over a year ago

Overview

Tiered and volume based pricing models will always have a dedicated table within the price quote. Each of these pricing models have a special set of features different than simpler pricing models (i.e. per unit & flat fee).

In the article below, we'll walk you through how to build these types of quotes within Dock.

If you do not see these options within your product quote builder, reach out to your Admin and ask them to build them out on the backend.

Tiered Pricing Model Table

Once you're in the builder, you can add products on the left side. If you add a product with tiered pricing, you'll see a column for Number of units within the quote.

Just like with other pricing models, the Name, Units, Discount, Tax can all be adjusted from the right side bar.

Hiding and showing Tiers

You have an option to Show all tiers within the quote. This allows you to either show only the tiers that are relevant to the customer's purchase quantity, or you can show all of the tiers possible within this product line.

Below is an example of what it looks like with Tiers turned on:

As you can see, two new rows get created, but the number of units for each of these tiers is null since the total number of units is only 200.

Volume Pricing Model Table

The volume pricing model table is slightly different than Tiered. Since customers only purchase one quantity level, Dock defaults to just showing that single level.

But you can also click Show all tier to show the different volume levels.

Adjusting columns

With both the tiered and volume pricing models, you can adjust the columns by clicking the + in the top right corner of the table.

You only have an option to hide or show the Per Unit or Flat Fee columns.

This is mainly useful if you don't have any value for per unit or flat fees in your product.
