Adding New Content to the Library

How to add assets to Dock's content library

Updated this week

Overview

Now that you know the value of the content library and the general structure, it's time to get content into Dock!

Dock's library supports PDFs, links, video, and image content.

There are four ways to add content to the library:

  1. Upload content manually

  2. Auto-sync a folder from Google Drive (Dock will mimic and add/remove files as you adjust the drive)

In the guide below, we'll show you how to add assets (aka content) manually to the library.

Uploading New Content Manually

Option 1: Drag and drop files from your computer into the Files section shown on the Library landing page!

Option 2: Add in new content one-by-one.

Step 1: From your home screen, click Library on the lefthand nav bar.

Step 2: Click the New content button found on the top right.

Step 3: Select the type.

Types of Content

Videos

For videos, you have two options: self-hosted or link.

Self-Hosted

For videos that you want to host in Dock, drag/drop the video or browse files on your computer. One advantage of using self-hosted videos is that Dock is able to provide more advanced analytics like average watch time.

Please note: While we don't have a file size limits, large video files may take a while to upload.

Link (Hosted elsewhere)

For videos that are in other platforms (Youtube, Loom, Wistia, etc.), you can just add a link to upload the video.

Links

Add a link to any website.

Set Metadata

After the asset uploads, you'll be asked to set the metadata for the asset. This includes the following:

  • Name

  • Description

  • Tags (to help find it later on)

Google Drive Integration

By connecting your Google Drive, you can pull in content directly to Dock or auto-sync with folders.

Microsoft SharePoint Integration

Why can't I see the "New content" button?

If you don't have access, ask your admin to update your permissions to an "Admin" or "Super Admin" level.
