How to use Boards and Tags to organize and filter assets

Updated yesterday

Overview

Dock's content library organizes your assets with a two-level system— Boards & Tags.

  • Boards are internal folders.

  • Tags are categories for assets that live under the boards.

You can use this system to organize assets in a variety of different ways...

  • By team (Sales, CS, Account Management)

  • By use case (Case studies, Competition, Personas)

On your Library homepage, if you click Manage, you'll see a list of recommendations:

Boards

Boards are internal pages that organize a number of tags. For example, you might have a board called Products:

Boards are made up of tags:

Tags

Tags are categories for assets. For example, you might have a tag called, "Integrations." If you searched for that tag, the system will show all content assets with that:

Keep in mind the following as you organize your library:

  • Assets (aka content) can be associated with multiple tags.

  • Assets don't need to be associated with a tag at all (though we do recommend using them!)

Filtering in the Library

Within the library, you can adjust the filters for boards and collections to help narrow down how you view assets.

You'll see these if you navigate to a board or tag. On the left-hand side, filter further down to cross-filter library content.

On the right-hand side, you'll see the content broken up and can sort by views, shares, or by recently modified.
