Navigating Workspaces Internally

How to navigate a Workspace and hide nav bars

Updated over a week ago

Overview

There are a few components to navigating Workspaces. The article below will walk you through the following:

  • Workspaces and the Three Views

  • Navigating the "Internal" View

  • Navigating the "Editor" & "Shared" Views

    • Top v. Side Nav

The Three Views in Workspaces

When you sign into Dock, you'll immediately be taken to your "Workspaces" section. This shows all spaces within your org, which you can filter or search through.

Once you make a selection, you'll be routed to that specific environment.

Within that Workspace, you'll find a top navigation bar with three views: Internal, Editor, and Shared.

Internal is where you will find information such as: details about the workspace, key start/due dates for your project, an activity feed showing what action has been taken in that space, internal/external participation analytics, and any plans that have been configured.

Editor is where you will actually create the experience for your customers or prospects.

Shared is the external view that those end users will experience. While those people will have access to information and can collaborate in places, they won't be able to make significant changes to the workspace (such as adding or removing sections).

Keep in mind, the changes that you make in the editor need to be published to show up in the shared view. Until then, they are simply in a "draft" state.

Navigating the "Internal" View

The Internal view is visible only to your org. Anyone you have shared this Dock Workspace with will not see this tab.

This where you will find the following:

  • Workspace Settings

  • Workspace Info

    • The account name, owner, team, stage, and start/end dates.

  • Activity Feed

    • Tasks completed, who has viewed the space, interactions with the space.

  • Plans

    • A summarized list of any plans in the workspace.

  • Summarized Form Data

  • Key Dates

    • You can set start, target and actual due dates for the workspace. These are helpful if you plan to use project plans.

  • Analytics (under the People tab)

    • Views and action data.

Navigating the "Editor" and "Shared" Views

The editor and share view help represent what will be shared externally. As you navigate here, you'll notice that Workspaces can have two navigation bars:

  • Top navigation

  • Side navigation

Top Navigation

The top-navigation is for users to tab between the pages of a workspace.

Please note: when a workspace only has one page, the top navigation will be automatically hidden.

Side Navigation

The side-navigation lets users jump between the sections of a page.
